| Appeared at the 1988 Sundance Film Festival Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick costar in this adaptation of Lanford Wilson's challenging stage play, told in flashbacks, that explores family dynamics and defining personal narratives. Bacon plays a young college student who attempts to reunite with his estranged, abusive, working-class father (Tom Atkins) and his father's new family. The film not only won director Jan Egleston a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, it also presented Casey Affleck in his screen debut and brought together Bacon and Sedgwick, who married shortly thereafter. |
