He wants to stay out till 6am grinding with a bleached-blond Irishman....and he wants to do it with his gay pals. There's nothing wrong with him just wanting to be gay with his bros. Don't take it personally, he still loves you. You spend lots of nights with your girlfriends talking about cramps and Michael Fassbender. Give him the same respect.

8. Thou Shalt Put The Beatdown When Necessary

When somebody makes a nasty homophobic comment or uses the 'f' word or Rick Perry releases a nasty video, you yell about it. You tell them to shut their nasty trap or you'll shut it for them, except you'll shut it with your stiletto up their.... Listen. We get that you can't beat up every small-minded moron who opposes gay marriage on your Facebook, but it IS your responsibility to say SOMETHING.

Tell them you don't want to hear their close-minded opinions on gay marriage. Every stance against wrong is a step closer to right. Be brave. Your best friend already has just by coming out, and you should at least make the world a less nasty place for them when you can.

7. Thou Shalt Show Your Gay Pride

Go to the gay pride parade. Get the equality sticker and put it in your cubicle. Be up to date with equal rights laws. It's the little things that matter to your friends. So, just like you feel touched when your best friend remembers the name of your college boyfriend or your favorite flower, he'll feel touched when you make it known you know what LGBTQIA stands for...or the name of the ONE Ben Affleck movie he can actually stand.

6. Thou Shalt Not Namedrop

Nothing sounds more tacky when you say "oh my BEST FRIEND IS GAY" in the middle of a conversation where that isn't necessary. It's the equivalent of saying something like "oh I go golfing with Jewish people so I can make a Holocaust joke." You don't get to say the 'f' bomb because you are best friends with a gay guy. You don't get to get a discount at Marc Jacobs, or free tickets to Lady Gaga. Having a best friend is a privilege in itself, no matter what! Keep his sexuality to yourself.

About gay marriage, sexuality, and whether or not he should come out to his grandparents. It's easy, when you're the girl, to wave your gay flag around and scream "BORN THIS WAY," but being gay is his own personal matter, and should be treated as such. When he asks you not to mention his boyfriend around his parents, don't. If he ever expresses how he wished he weren't treated so differently...listen. Always, always listen.
