David Cronenberg directed this Oscar-nominated adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name, with a critically acclaimed Viggo Mortensen in the lead role as an introverted man launched into the spotlight after killing two men in an act of defense. The fact that the film doesn’t especially feel as though it’s based on a comic is part of the strength of the source material, whose author, funnily enough, is also responsible for more traditional comic fodder like Judge Dredd (there’s already been one abomination of a film adaptation for that one starring Sylvester Stallone, and another is on its way later this year).
Don’t miss comic-to-film misadventure GHOST WORLD, airing on Sundance Channel this month.
