Overview
THE GREEN is television's first regularly-scheduled programming destination dedicated entirely to the environment. Presented by Robert Redford, the destination is hosted by award-winning journalist Simran Sethi and community advocate and MacArthur Fellow Majora Carter, two dynamic leaders who have distinguished themselves with revolutionary ideas in such areas as civic planning and global business practices. THE GREEN online will present multimedia content focusing on the earth's ecology and concepts of 'green' living that balance human needs with responsible care for the planet. THE GREEN reflects the current tipping point in public awareness about ecological issues and the trend towards environmentally sustainable approaches to modern living. The destination is designed to be both edifying and entertaining, with an emphasis on information, practical advice and community building. The Green Advisory Board is a distinguished gathering of luminaries from the environmental and sustainable living movement.
The Advisory Board members worked closely with Sundance Channel to help mold and develop the various programs and intitiatives of the Green. It is our sincere hope that through our combined efforts we can increase awareness of their various causes like--global warming, alternative and renewable energy sources, and preservation of the planet's amazing biodiversity.

Yves Behar is the founder of the San Francisco-based design studio fuseproject. Behar's work includes green products for the likes of Herman Miller and Birkenstock, as well as socially responsible projects such as the One Laptop Per Child. His projects are included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including MOMA. Behar also serves as the Industrial Design chair at CCA in San Francisco.
Majora Carter is an award-winning community activist/organizer and life-long resident of the Hunts Point community in the South Bronx. She is the founder and executive director of Sustainable South Bronx, a community organization dedicated to the implementation of sustainable development projects for the South Bronx.
Laurie David (Global Warming Activist, Film Producer) -- Laurie David is a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council. She is best known for her efforts to stop global warming and founded the Stop Global Warming Virtual March. David is the author of two books, Stop Global Warming: The Solution is You! and the upcoming Scholastic title Down to Earth. She is also a producer of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, starring Al Gore, and nominated for the 2007 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
Mr. Kennedy serves as Senior Attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council and President of Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also a Clinical Professor and Supervising Attorney at Pace University School of Law's Environmental Litigation Clinic and is co-host of Ring of Fire on Air America Radio.
Mindy S. Lubber is the President of Ceres, the leading U.S. coalition of investors and environmental leaders working to improve corporate environmental, social and governance practices. She also directs the Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), an alliance that coordinates U.S. investor responses to the financial risks and opportunities posed by climate change.
Founder/Executive Editor of Greenbiz.com as well as the Co-Founder/Principal of Clean Edge, Inc., Joel Makower has been a well-respected voice on business, the environment and the bottom line for nearly 20 years. As a writer, speaker, and strategist on corporate environmental practices, clean technology, and green marketing, he has helped a wide range of companies align environmental responsibility with business success.
Pat Mitchell currently President and Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of Television & Radio in New York City, as well as the former President and CEO of Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). Mitchell is also the founding president of Global Green, USA, President Gorbachev's global environmental organization and vice chair of the Sundance Institute board.

The Green block is presented by Robert Redford, a leader in the environmental movement and a visionary in independant filmmaking. Under his creative leadership the Sundance Channel has united a team of leading journalists and environmental activists, to bring you green oriented programming that educates, informs and entertains.
Born and raised in the South Bronx, co-host of Sundance Channel's THE GREEN, Majora Carter, founded Sustainable South Bronx in 2001 to fight for environmental justice through innovative, economically sustainable projects that are informed by community needs. She is a recipient of a MacArthur "Genius" Grant, a member of Clinton Global Initiative, and Co-founder of "Green For All" with Van Jones. In Season 2 of THE GREEN, Carter is featured in Sundance Channel's original program BIG IDEAS FOR A SMALL PLANET, winner of the of the 2007 Environmental Media Award for Best Documentary, as a green roof innovator in the episode "Grow." Called one of 25 people to watch in 2007 by Newsweek; one of 50 most powerful women in NYC by the NY Post; and one of the 25 Most Influential African Americans by Essence Magazine, Carter continues to live and work in the environmentally-challenged community of the South Bronx.
Hosts
Award-winning eco-expert and freelance journalist Simran Sethi is both a co-host and writer for Sundance Channel's THE GREEN. Simran is a contributing environmental correspondent and expert for NBC News as well as the Lacy C. Haynes Visiting Professional Chair at the University of Kansas, School of Journalism. She is writing a book for Harper Collins on the impact of American consumption and co-wrote "Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy," a companion guide to the first PBS series on sustainable business which she also wrote and hosted. Lauded in Vanity Fair's 2007 green issue as environmental "messenger" and identified by Variety as a Woman of Impact, Simran was also named as one of the top Eco-Heroes of the Planet by the British newspaper, The Independent. She hosted a forum on global warming with Nobel Laureate Al Gore for MSN.com and has appeared on talk shows with Oprah, Martha Stewart and Ellen DeGeneres. In Season 2 of THE GREEN, Simran is featured on Sundance Channel's original programs ECO-BIZ and BIG IDEAS FOR A SMALL PLANET. She is also the creator of the upcoming Sundance Channel web series THE GOOD FIGHT highlighting global environmental justice efforts.
