BIO
Carole King is universally respected in the entertainment world and as a world-class artist and songwriter. Her music has provided the soundtrack for most of our adult lives. In 1972, her landmark album "Tapestry" won her four Grammy Awards, a feat unsurpassed for twenty-five years. That same year, named Carole "Woman of the Year."
King has been a fierce proponent for the environment for almost three decades, specifically toward the passage of the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (HR 1975), which currently has 125 co-sponsors plus lead sponsor Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). She has testified in Congress several times in support of NREPA, most recently in October of 2007. She has also appeared on "Now," as well as John McLaughlin's "One on One." Both programs aired nationwide on PBS.
Carole King has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, received the National Academy of Songwriters' Lifetime Achievement Award, inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, was awarded their prestigious Mercer Award, and was honored by the Recording Academy with the Trustees' Award for her significant contributions to the music industry. Her most recent project is a live DVD entitled "Welcome to My Living Room," which she released on her own record label, Rockingale Records.
