Last week NPR’s show All Things Considered reported about the on-going feud between Adidas and Puma, two German shoe makers and mega brands, that put their differences aside for one day in honor of peace. The companies were founded by brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler, who after a falling out after World War II, went separate ways, splitting their shoe business in two and creating rival brands. I never knew about this drama. Fascinating. In honor of International Peace Day teams from both companies played together in a soccer match. Cute.

Equally fascinating was NPR’s follow-up report to the story featuring photos and anecdotes from listeners about their, you guessed it, sneakers. As someone who own over 100 pairs of shoes I can relate to emotional attachments to shoes. The stories are fun to read and the photos equally as interesting.
