Earlier this week on our site, we asked our Wise Guys what was up with the sexy Santa lingerie thing. Which naturally led us to thinking about Mariah Carey, and how she basically owns the entire sexy Santa category, not to mention the sub-category of soft-core porn Santa. We know she didn't exactly invent the look -- scantily clad Santa's helpers have been around for decades, and someone saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus years ago -- but she's made it her own again... and again... and again (Google-image-search "Sexy Mariah Santa" if you can handle even more).

The Speedo makes a comeback

If you've ever rolled your eyes at that iconic image of the bikini-clad woman sudsing up a muscle car or rollerskating along the boardwalk, then have we got two videos for you. First, the high budget one: LMFAO's "I'm Sexy and I Know It." As our writer friend Grant Stoddard recently put it in a Facebook post, never before has banana sling been so explicitly celebrated in a music video - it's shot in a way that gives the illusion of three-dimensionality, if you know what we mean. (Best line of the song? The chorus refrain "I work out.") Yes, it's funny and tongue in cheek, and yet the high production value gives it a weight that makes it feel like genuine equal-opportunity objectification.

New crazy-awesome video from Ok Go

Ok Go is an indie band that has mastered viral marketing with clever, innovative one-shot vids for their songs. First there was "A Million Ways," in which they did an awesome little dance routine in someone's backyard. Then they upped the ante with a choreographed number on a set of treadmills for "Here I Go Again." Then came "WTF?" -- its psychedonkulous colors and patterns made you go WTF when you watch it (here's how they did that one). Now, for the song "This Too Shall Pass" from their new album "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky," they've done it again -- even better! It's a giant Rube Goldberg machine in a two-story warehouse that moves along in perfect freakin' synch with the song, all captured in one glorious take (after more than 60s tries over two days). Benjamin Taylor's "Wicked Way" music video is a winning formula of 15 models singing his song as they morph into one another. Incidentally, he comes from an impressive musical pedigree being that he is the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but the cold and damp weather this month in New York has led some to rename June as "Junuary." Hopefully these music videos will be a ray of light or at least some warmth in these overcast days. 1. Our bosom buddies at m ss ng p eces (who we are currently working on a project with--stay tuned!) produced and directed this fun and lively new video which debuted on Boing Boing for Hess is More's "Ssshhh" from the new album "Hits."
