Annie and Lisa
Film & Storytelling
Annie J. Howell and Lisa Robinson are the co-creators of SPARKS, a web series about the funny, frustrating and mysterious relationship between humans and their technology. The series is now playing on Sundance Channel’s digital shorts and can also be viewed at sparks-series.com. Howell and Robinson, both writer/directors, also brave the wilds of academia as professors of film, at Ohio University and Long Island University respectively. They are graduates of New York University’s Graduate Film Program and between them have exhibited short films at festivals from Cannes to SXSW to Telluride to Full Frame. Robinson’s recent writing projects include MIND BLAST, a film for the Blue Man Group; Howell’s most recent script received a 2010 San Francisco Film Society/Kenneth Rainin Foundation grant. The team co-directed their first feature, SMALL, BEAUTIFULLY MOVING PARTS in the summer of 2010, which premiered at SXSW 2011.
