Annie and Lisa


Annie J. Howell and Lisa Robinson are the co-creators of SPARKS, a web-based series about humans and technology that will be showing on sundancechannel.com this summer.

Annie J. Howell has written and directed short films that have played internationally on the film festival circuit, including at SXSW, Newport, Full Frame and Clermont-Ferrand. Her work has aired on the Sundance Channel, PBS, and the Independent Film Channel. Her screenplay BLACK KID was recently recognized with the Grand Prize Award for Panasonic's Digital Filmmaking Grants, part of IFP's 2008 Independent Film Week. She earned an MFA at NYU’s Graduate Program in Film and is currently Assistant Professor of Media Studies and Film at The New School, where she heads a graduate level program in documentary.

Lisa Robinson has written and directed short films that have screened at film festivals around the world including Cannes - Directors Fortnight, Telluride, Edinburgh and Clermont Ferrand. Her feature project SYNAPSE received the Sloan Foundation Feature Production Award and is in development with Salty Features. She is the recipient of the Martin E. Segal Prize, the Digital Media Lab Award for Excellence, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. She is currently writing a project for The Blue Man Group. She received her MFA from NYU's Graduate Film Directing Program and is an Assistant Professor of Film at Long Island University.
