What is SUNfiltered? It’s film, art, music, design and more as we see it - filtered through that space between the underground and the mainstream. It’s emerging culture that demands to be noticed.
We’re excited to have an interesting and varied group of bloggers covering a range of subjects that go beyond what you’ll see on our TV network.
SUNfiltered is broken down into five broad categories:
Film: We’re going beyond reviews and previews to bring you personal perspectives on films you should see both on the channel and elsewhere. Covering this beat will be Christian Vesper, Annie Howell and Lisa Robinson, and the Sundance Channel staff, with contributions from Andrew Hearst, Matthew Rodriguez and guests.
Music: There’s a lot going on in the indie music scene, and with the continuing decline of commercial radio and the lack of real music on television these days, it can be tough to cut through the chaff to get to the wheat. We’ll do our best to change that. You may know Ryan Kearney from our Sundance Film Festival 2009 coverage - he’ll be covering music for us from now on. Also contributing will be Andrew Hearst, Matthew Rodriguez and the Sundance Channel staff.
Naked Love: We’ll get to the truth about love in 2009 with a long, hard look at sex and relationships. Em and Lo of emandlo.com will anchor this category, with contributions from Lux Alptraum of Fleshbot and Boinkology fame.
Green: We’re expanding our previous Green blog with the addition of Jeff McIntire-Strasburg, founder of sustainablog and former writer at Treehugger. He’ll be providing his own unique perspective, rounding out our staff contributions and ENS News stories that will continue to provide timely environmental news coverage.
Culture: A broad category that can include art, design, advertising (that we like), and other cool stuff. Any one or all of our bloggers could be writing posts in this category, but our specialists will be the aforementioned Andrew Hearst and Matthew Rodriguez as well as Perrin Drumm, who has a hardcore interest in the art world. Our newest blogger is Bradford Shellhammer, who will be focusing on gay issues.
Of course you also know Robert Redford, the founder of the Sundance family. Watch for his posts in any of these categories.
We hope you enjoy the blog, and please feel free to leave comments on any of our posts.
