The evolution of the World Cup soccer ball

The New York Times Magazine has a cool interactive photo gallery of the various types of soccer balls used over the years in the World Cup. As you can see, the now familiar black and white pentagon ball debuted at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. Also, the model name for the ball used in the 1962 World Cup was “Mr Crack.”
