Cell phone manufacturers are unveiling the latest in green technology with some exciting new developments on the road to sustainability. Samsung’s Blue Earth cell phone features an outer shell made from recycled plastic water bottles and a solar panel embedded in the back, while Motorola’s Renew mobile phone includes a natural light sensor that helps conserve energy.

Thinking about upgrading to a sleeker, sustainable cell? The carbon offset company Terrapass is partnering with GreenPhone to offer gift certificates that can be used for carbon credits or green gadgets in exchange for used cell phones.
