On February 20, 2009 a federal appeals court denied an emergency request for an injunction by the Western Shoshone to block construction of a gold mine on Mt. Tenabo. The Western Shoshone continue to fight for the preservation of Mt. Tenabo, while the mining industry hails the ruling as great news for rural Nevada where the new mine will offer 100 jobs this year.
