BIO
Stephen Warden grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he began his career in music journalism at the Winnipeg Free Press while studying Political Science at the University of Winnipeg. His writing led to broadcast work at the CBC and, later, in private broadcasting in both Winnipeg and Toronto.
Over the next 15 years, in various capacities in radio and television and as a feature writer for the Globe and Mail, among other publications, Warden traveled the world interviewing virtually every major artist in popular music, including Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, U2, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Steely Dan, Sinead O'Connor, Pink Floyd, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ray Davies, Bob Geldof, Pete Townshend, Chrissie Hynde and Sting, just to name a few.
Warden also ventured into artist management, developing and guiding the career of Canadian soul sensation Remy Shand, whose debut album for Motown/Universal Records garnered four Grammy nominations and rave reviews all over the world.
All the while Warden was contemplating and planning a project that could get music fans a little closer to the experience that he himself had been privileged to enjoy as both a journalist and a music manager - an intimate, up close look at the artists and an examination of their creative process.
The eventual result of all this experience and rumination is the international television series, SPECTACLE, ELVIS COSTELLO WITH
