Eco-interior Designer

BIO

Leading eco-interior designer Kelly LaPlante (LEED AP) has been demonstrating for over a decade that “green is a standard, not a style.” Sacrificing nothing in the way of aesthetics, quality or the environment, LaPlante has presented her clients with everything from Victorian to ultra-modern. Design projects include the Lexus Hybrid Living Suites at Fairmont Hotels in San Francisco and Washington DC, as well as the acclaimed Venice Beach Eco Cottages.

Currently, she is designing residential projects across the country, a historic boutique hotel in Berkeley California and a hospitality collection for a sustainable fabric house. The February 2010 issue of Traditional Home Magazine names LaPlante among the “Twenty Young Designers to Watch” and her work gets consistent attention from publications including Elle, Vanity Fair, Sunset, Flaunt, Lucky, Western Interiors, California Home and Design, Blackbook, Interior Design, Hospitality Design, Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Magazine, among others. She regularly appears as an expert on programs such as Sundance Channel’s THE LAZY ENVIRONMENTALIST and BIG IDEAS FOR A SMALL PLANET, Discovery Home Channel’s Greenovate, Good Day New York, KTLA News, Good Day Dallas, Good Day Atlanta, and Martha Stewart Radio. LaPlante was also the executive producer of Brilliant Green, a special for Ovation TV, which aired in January of 2009.

LaPlante’s first book, écologique (benefiting The Blank Theatre Company and Global Green USA) was released in 2008 to rave reviews. She is the creator and founder of thegreengrades.com, and co-founder of jak, a luxury eco-furniture collection designed in collaboration with designer James Saavedra. LaPlante chairs the sustainability committee for The Blank Theatre Company and serves on their board of directors.
