2008: A LONELY SAILOR

2008: A TIE WITH LONG-TIME RIVAL EVAN LYSACEK
ST. PAUL, MN - JANUARY 27: Johnny Weir and Evan Lysacek on the medals podium after the men's event during the U.S. Figure Skating Championships January 27, 2008 at the Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, Minnesota. Lysacek and Weir finished with a tie score overall. The win was awarded to Lysacek.
A technicality ends up giving Johnny the silver medal and Evan gets gold. Johnny received a higher score on his short program and Evan received a higher score on his long program; in the event of a tie, the medal goes to the person who scores higher on his long program. Many fans consider that Johnny was robbed of what should have been his 4th gold medal at Nationals. Back in the old judging system, if there was a tie, the artistry mark would break that tie.
