FULL FRONTAL FASHION: How many suitcases will you be taking to the Olympics?
Johnny Weir: I will be taking two giant Rimowa suitcases to the Olympics. I’m also pre-shipping a box of necessities that are too heavy for my luggage. Think throw blankets, candles, and bubble bath.
FFF: What color are your suitcases?
J.W.: My suitcases are two different colors, because I have a very specific packing system. In the white Rimowa go skates, costumes, and other sport-related things, while the bigger, black Rimowa holds my life, Balenciagas, coats, pointy shoes, and so on.

Designer Elise Overland
Elise Overland loves music. This is no shocker, considering she has dressed a slew of dynamic performers: Steven Tyler, Fergie, Britney Spears, and Faith Hill, to name a few. Her own musical tastes range from John Coltrane and Leonard Cohen to reggaeton and rock ‘n roll. When I think of Elise Overland’s designs, I see skin-tight, buttery-soft leather leggings and show-stopping performance pieces. Her Spring 2010 collection, however, reminds me that she does so much more.

“Valparaiso / what a silly thing you are,” poet Pablo Neruda extolled in his Ode to Valparaiso. “How crazy / a crazy port / what a head with hills / disheveled / you don’t finish combing your hair / you never have time to get dressed.”
Neruda had a deep fascination with Valpo, as locals call it, and it’s not difficult to see why. It’s a little rough around the corners, sure. It’s messy and inconvenient. Some would even call it dirty. But hidden under the trash, camouflaged behind the graffiti, is a city full of vitality and charm.
