We may have been frozen to the bone and soaked through and through from the unforgiving New York downpour, but Zac Posen’s lively atelier remedied the fact that our Alaïa lace-up booties and Pierre Hardy neoprene patent wedges were flooded.

We walked into the lively and impressive showroom and were warmly received by Posen himself, his darling mother, and his energetic team, all of whom were animated about the Spring 2010 collection. Our first glimpse of the poppy hot-pink rugs, a nod to the presence of the same hue throughout his collection, made it clear that great care had been taken with every detail.

Now that the main fashion events are behind us, we’d like to explore the process of how the looks move off the runway and into your hands through a new series of articles: MARKET APPOINTMENT.

After the New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks, editors are invited into the designers’ showrooms, have some coffee, talk about the collection (the inspiration, key selling points, or their favorite pieces, for example), and take pictures for reference. Editors bring the information back to their respective clients, directors, or stylists and figure out what works best for their magazine or an ad campaign. It’s a fantastic gig and we want to share it with you.
