The Red Ties of Paris!

Sunday morning is only the middle of the Paris fashion week, but you already feel like you’ve seen and done it all. So waiting for the beginning of the Karl Lagerfeld show and looking for something new, I started a new game: talking with the Red Ties.

The Red Ties are the young boys who help you find your seat at the start of the show. They’re quite helpful, especially when you aren’t in the front row.

These gentlemen, all dressed up in black (even the tie; don’t ask!) have a lot to say about fashion people — oh, those nice fashion people, always polite (not), always on time (not), always looking you in the eye with their sunglasses on.

But despite the occasional ruffling of the fashion feathers, these little Red Ties seem to have a lot of fun! Getting dressed up and waiting for celebrities and beautiful people is kind of fun when you’re 19. Oh, did I tell you that they were young? They are. And also gorgeous.

So I’ve decided to take a few pictures to let you judge. Okay, it’s kind of dark, but that is a part of the charm.

So let me introduce you to Martin (17), Emmanuel (24), Frederic (25), Harrold (22), Maxim (25), Nicolas (28 – what happened, Nicolas?).

Feel free to list, in order of preference, who you want to help you find your seat — and remember that they are the only straight people in the fashion world.

After the mini photo shoot, I went backstage and found the most perfect Red Tie of Paris, Bapstiste, 20! Yes, THE Baptiste.

Actually, he’s not a Red Tie at all; he’s the Monsieur Karl Lagerfeld boy/model/toy/friend/grandson/perfect/body/to/hang/with. A year ago he was working on helicopter construction, and now he is the No. 1 male model in the world, according to KL.

He wins. He is the cutest. I didn’t say that.  He did.
