For more than a decade, Treadwell filmed and lived among grizzlies in the wilds of Alaska, a reckless intimacy that inevitably ended when he and his girlfriend were killed and eaten by a bear in 2003. Born into an aristocratic family who wished him to enter banking or law, as a young man Givenchy was strongly influenced by the pure, classic formalism of designer Cristobal Balenciaga. Givenchy rapidly established himself as a master of formal clothing and evening dresses, best exemplified by his longtime role as Audrey Hepburn’s personal and professional designer.
