I’m Gonna Explode

Delightfully avoiding numerous cinematic cliches, Mexican filmmaker Gerardo Naranjo presents a “winning tale” (Hollywood Reporter) of disaffected teens in search of adventure. Self-styled rebel and all-around high school headache Roman (Juan Pablo de Santiago) teams with the introverted Maru (Maria Deschamps) to stage a fake kidnapping. While his parents believe the fugitives are on the run, Roman and Maru are actually camping on the roof of Roman’s father’s house, gleefully enjoying the ensuing drama while awkwardly getting to know each other.
