Ally Sheedy won an Independent Spirit Award and was voted Best Actress by both the Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics for her edgy performance as Lucy Berliner, a once-celebrated art photographer who has retreated into a world of drugs and lesbian admirers. When a downstairs neighbor (Radha Mitchell) flirts with idea of bringing Lucy out of seclusion, she sets in motion a volatile emotional pas de deux. With HIGH ART, her debut feature, Lisa Cholodenko won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
