Both European writer Anais Nin and American novelist Henry Miller pioneered honestly capturing sex on the page. In bohemian Paris of the '30s they were also briefly lovers. Fred Ward, Maria de Medeiros and Uma Thurman (in her first major starring role) play Miller, Nin and Miller's wife and muse June in Phil Kaufman's “daringly, heroically sexy” (Washington Post) retelling of their three-way relationship and their quest for sexual liberation and identity.
