Faramarz K. Rahber, Director
2008 | 107 |
Over the course of five years, Australian-based documentarian Faramarz K-Rahber followed the quixotic courtship of Brian, a Goth puppeteer from Brisbane, and Amber, a 17-year-old Muslim whom Brian meets at a festival in Lahore, Pakistan. Despite Brian's conversion to Islam and taking the name Aamir to impress Amber's devout family, complications arise that appear to forecast doom for this star-crossed romance. Much more than an individual story of culture clash, Donkey in Lahore is a penetrating examination of the emotional need for love.
