Daddy Longlegs
Ronald Bronstein (Frownland) gives a manic yet effectively disciplined performance as the ultimate unreliable dad in Ben and Joshua Safdie’s horrifyingly comic, semi-autobiographical slice of life. It’s summer, and Lenny (Bronstein), a self-absorbed New York movie projectionist, has custody of his two sons for a couple of weeks. Alas, he has about as much common sense and adult maturity as his grade-school boys (Sage and Frey Ranaldo), an alarming formula for a constant state of emergency. A “lovely, hair-raising film” — New York Times. (2009)
