A Year Ago In Winter
German filmmaker Caroline Link’s follow-up to her Academy Award-Winner NOWHERE IN AFRICA is a unsettling meditation on family and healing adapted from a book by American writer Scott Campbell. After her family is ruptured by the suicide of her brother Alexander, Lilli (Karoline Herfurth) is asked by her mother (Corinna Harfouch) to pose for a memorial double portrait. Lilli, who dismisses the idea as vulgar, discovers that sitting for the painting also requires extended time with the artist (Josef Bierbichler), a man with his own demons.
