Hany Abu-Assad, Director
A Palestinian raised in Israel, filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad has explored the complexities of the Arab/Israeli conflict in a series of critically acclaimed films such as Rana's Wedding and Ford Transit. With irony, compassion and a sense of reality's absurdities, Abu-Assad here tells the story of two young West Bank auto mechanics (Kais Nashef and Ali Suliman), who are assigned to enter Israel as suicide bombers. This "compelling, tightly made political thriller" San Francisco Chronicle earned an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
