Filmmaker Neil Jordan (THE CRYING GAME) won acclaim with his darkly humorous screen version of fellow Irish novelist Patrick McCabe's THE BUTCHER BOY in 1998. In BREAKFAST ON PLUTO, Jordan reunites with McCabe to adapt the latter's phantasmagorical tale about a cross-dressing orphan's quest for self-discovery, and for his mother, during Ireland's violent 1970s. Cillian Murphy plays the easy-going androgyne, who bravely and obliviously adopts the persona "Kitten," an innocent resisting the brutality around him. "An exhilarating work" - Salon.
