Ben Hopkins, Director
British filmmaker Ben Hopkins presents a decidedly different kind of ethnographic documentary focusing on the epic tale of the Pamir Kirghiz, a semi-nomadic tribe from Central Asia currently living in Turkey. Dramatic recreations — featuring amused members of the Pamir Kirghiz — intermingle with Hopkins' own interviews and wry observations to recount the tribe's recent history and the persecutions they endured after World War II. What emerges is a story of hardship and resilience, and a profile of good-humored, gracious, ingenious people.
