With tongue-in-cheek excess, cult filmmaker Takashi Miike (AUDITION) expands upon an established genre tradition to present an exercise in horror centering around a seemingly benign piece of modern technology that turns out to be far from harmless. Mysterious cellphone calls from the near future to a group of schoolgirls are unsettling enough. However, when it becomes apparent that they were made in the midst of extremely violent and deadly circumstances, the girls realize their days are numbered.
