Director and Chief Curator of the Studio Museum in Harlem (SMH), Golden began her career at SMH in 1987 before joining the Whitney Museum in 1988. She returned to SMH in 2000 as Deputy Director for Exhibitions and Programs, and was named Director and Chief Curator in 2005. Golden has organized many notable exhibitions at SMH, including Freestyle (2001), Black Romantic (2002) and Frequency (2005-06).
