Giving a personal face to bipolar disorder, a condition estimated to afflict nearly 4% of adults at some time, documentary filmmaker Ben Selkow tells the story of Sam, a 30-year-old former Division I basketball player who, on the eve of his first bipolar episode, quit a successful job in New York's financial world to pursue an artistic career. Through the course of six years, Selkow movingly documents one man's struggle with madness, delusion, depression and forced hospitalization ... and his father's suicidal legacy.
