Who Gets to Call it Art?
200680 minsColor
Peter Rosen, Director
The answer, according to Peter Rosen's documentary, was taste-maker Henry Geldzahler (1935-1994), the first curator of contemporary art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, whose career spanned Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Minimalism. Archive images and colorful interviews with the likes of David Hockney, Frank Stella and Ellsworth Kelly recall Geldzahler's world and the coterie of artists (and friends) he helped during his tenure. "Entertaining ... [a] whirling, funny collage of a movie" - Chicago Tribune.
