Safe Men

John Hamburg, Director
Appeared at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival
This debut comedy feature from writer-director John Hamburg (ALONG CAME POLLY) stars Sam Rockwell and Steve Zahn as Sam and Eddie, Providence, Rhode Island’s most pathetic lounge act. As abysmal as Sam and Eddie are as singing musicians, they are even worse as safe crackers, which a bumbling mob underling (Paul Giamatti) mistakes them for when he is sent on a recruiting mission by his boss (Michael Lerner). A frisky story, hip wordplay and inspired performances from Rockwell, Zahn and Giamatti deliver just the right combination for laughs.
