Formerly in control of a press empire encompassing 500 newspapers, including London’s Daily Telegraph, the Jerusalem Post, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Sydney Morning Herald, media baron Conrad Black was ousted as CEO of Hollinger International in 2003 for illegally pocketing millions. Ironically, filmmaker Debbie Melnyk was in the process of making this eye-opening documentary profile of the feisty, eccentric and bookish Black when the Hollinger scandals came to light. Like its subject, CITIZEN BLACK is both controversial and entertaining.
