Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees were among the hottest music stars on the charts when they starred together in this big-budgeted screen adaptation of The Beatles' classic album. Tying together 29 originally unrelated songs is a fable about rock-star success that begins when a Hollywood music mogul (Donald Pleasance) tries to woo Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Among the film's surprising revelations are a character named Strawberry Fields (Sandy Farina), and Steve Martin doing a wild and crazy routine with Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
