Andrew Bujalski, Director
A self-effacing lead performance by Kate Dollenmayer, and astutely observed moments capturing life's awkwardness and absurdity, distinguish this debut feature from Andrew Bujalski. Twenty-three-year-old Marnie (Dollenmayer) is a recent college graduate trying to find her way as an adult. But, like many of her friends, she knows there is no textbook answer to post-grad romance and career. Bujalski's film, which earned him a 2004 "Someone to Watch" Independent Spirit Award, may remind viewers of the early work of John Cassavetes and Mike Leigh.
