Helen's War: Portrait of a Dissident

During the '70s and '80s, Dr. Helen Caldicott was a leading activist working to eliminate the existence of nuclear weapons. At the end of the Cold War, Caldicott retired from the public eye to her native Australia. However, recent American efforts to develop a new generation of nuclear arms prompted her to once again speak out.

Documentary filmmaker Anna Broinowski presents a fascinating profile of her famous aunt during an American road trip, during which Caldicott tussles with neo-con critics and jousts with her quizzical niece.
