Eleven filmmakers from 11 countries, including Egypt's Youssef Chahine, Iran's Samira Makhmalbaf, and India's Mira Nair, collaborated on this omnibus collection of 11 short films considering aspects of the terrorist attacks of the title. Many present a local or historical perspective Britain's Ken Loach and Japan's Shohei Imamura concentrate on armed conflicts of the past to illuminate the present while Sean Penn and France's Claude Lelouch set their stories in Lower Manhattan.
