Considered by some the progenitor of the music video, this wide-ranging experimental exercise in filmmaking by Frank Zappa and co-director Tony Palmer is a different kind of magical mystery tour, following the Mothers of Invention on the road. Paralleling Zappa's famed musical experimentation, 200 Motels played with visual ideas revolutionary in 1971, most notably earning its place in cinema history as the first theatrical feature shot and edited on video and then transferred to film. With cameos from Keith Moon and Ringo Starr.
