BLIND DATE

Appeared at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. Stanley Tucci directs and costars with Patricia Clarkson in this provocative fantasy about an estranged middle-aged couple who conduct a series of blind dates, for which each adopts a different persona. One time they play a journalist meeting with his subject; later, a therapist interviewing her patient. Yet as their mysterious pas de deux progresses, it slowly becomes clear the couple can't escape a troubled past. Adapted from a 1996 film by Dutch director Theo van Gogh, who was infamously murdered by an Islamic extremist in 2004.
