Dear Elvis Costello - WHAT were you thinking??? Renee FLeming Fleming is a world class artist who deserves an entire hour to herself! As an opera singer, I was deeply moved by her description of the opera singer's world. You were just starting to hit your interview groove when you ruined the show by bringing on the poseur Rufus Wainwright. I was pissed!!
I have been loving this show. It provides a great forum to really hear the artists talk about their craft and influences. I have loved all of the episodes, with one exception: Wainwright. What an insufferable personality! His "talent" is barely formed. HE already had a whole freaking hour to himself, and yet you hijacked Renee's episode with this annoying guy?
I will keep watching, but I will be slow to forgive. Scheduling Wainwright has been your one misstep thus far. Great show and (mostly) great guests! |

| I'm going to have to disagree. Fleming is a world class artist but so is Rufus. It was perfect having him come out and perform with her. I loved the episode. I'm not an opera fan but I was impressed with how Fleming could perform other genres. I loved when they all performed In The Pines. I don't remember ever hearing this Traditional version before but I do remember the Nirvana version. It made me do some research on the song. It was very interesting. This is what Elvis is doing - he's making us want to know more about the music and the performers. All the boundaries are blurred - it's like music comes from one place no matter what style. Elvis is showing us this. Please keep this showing going. So many great artists are out there that we need to meet up close and personal. Elvis takes us there. |
