I happened to watch the premier on Sundance Channel and am so beyond word. I am grateful for everyone involved in making and sharing this film and so shocked at the extent at which our beautiful forests and mountains are being destroyed and fellow citizens being continually and increasingly exposed to harmful air and water poluution all for "cheap" coal.
There is another way. There are many alternatives and we must standup for not only the natural resources but the health and well-being of our nieghbors. I live in California and befofre this documentary knew very little about current coal mining practices and nothing about MTR. I interpretted the film as a call to action and so I'm signing what petitions I can and will be starting conversations with everyone I know about MTR and coal and finding renewable resources for energy. I applaud Maria and everyone on the grassroots level standing up for what is right and decent, until we push back things will only get worse. Thank you for standing up, keep on pushing, keep on fighting! |

| Thank god that someone actually took a good hard look at this. Being born and raised in WV every school you go too makes you take a tour of a coal mine or a mock coal mine, Just like the tobacco companies they start early. If you want to get your point across start early in school like they do. I have had enough of the corporate rape of WV and the earth. I understand now why people leave when they should not have too. BIG GOV does not dictate what we do, only we have that power. People of WV take a stand like I did and do not fall for this Massey/AEP/Dupont/Amos/Dow mess that has almost ruined the most diverse eco-system in the world. |
