This film is full of wonderful things. I had to turn away, though, whenever Hoffman was in view, behaving like the ultimate ugly American. The little research I've done reveals only praise for this film, and at least deference to Hoffman, if not abject sycophancy. Only Jeffrey Anderson in his SFIFF review implies that there might be something amiss, but he notes that the (digital) camera is merely recording what occurs in front of it. I think the guy should be taken to task for, yes, elitism, and for abusing people for whom courtesy is the first consideration in all human transactions.
