I don't expect Sundance to accept or act on this criticism any time soon, given who funds its "Green" programming, but all of the "Green" programs I've seen on Sundance present aspects of environmental degradation as disjointed symptoms of bad decisions or consumer choices, and highlight market-driven "solutions" to these problems. However, many in the environmental movement and the scientific community place the capitalist market *at the heart* of global warming, toxic pollution, mass extinctions, etc. I challenge Sundance to put forward points of view critical of the market, as well as those who believe it offers solutions. I would like to hear some critical voices, such as John Bellamy Foster, Arundhati Roy, Richard Levins, to mention a few.

I have to say to I do agree with you; I would like to hear some viewpoints that don't make the all they money guys sound like jerks or heartless jerks (I am thinking of the "we feed the world" interview with the Nestle guy (makes me gonna swear off Nestle for good). But NOT everyone who make money, is a capital venturist, or 'big corporation' is a bad guy. And not just the heartwarming stories where they have 'dropped out, tuned in, and turned on' to doing things different. Some people do keep the principles in tact. And yes, there is a point where the ROI all comes together and a decision gets made - usually for the ill health of the earth, but maybe if we better understood that decision point, we also might be able to come up with better reasons WHY long-term cost, travel-cost, value-laden cost should be added to final purchase price. Right now it's just majgic numbers ....and those are just basby numbers waiting to grow up to be statistics......

I have found the sponsors odd at times on the green programming, but the biggest argument against the green movement have to do with potential economic impact. However, many businesses in recent years have actually found a positive economic impact to doing their business in a more responsible way. If we can't work together, there will continue to be so much tension between the two sides that nothing will get done. So in the meantime, I think we should be happy that some corporations, however questionable their histories, are at least supporting this conversation.
