Pathetic Apathy! Posted on Sep 1 2006 at 12:08pm by I caught the last half of this documentary and it shook my spirit.
In the States, we have a FEW prominent campaigns regarding the HIV/AIDS epidemic - but even they don't compel the public to TRULY protect themselves. Especially not the demographic that is truly being anhilated - ME! Young Black Females!
Whatever the origin of the virus is, it's here now! It is hitting Africa like nothing else has - ever! It is hitting US here in the U.S. like never before and we’re sitting back proclaiming that "wrapping it up" is the best way to protect ourselves! We're killing OURSELVES! I say Stop it Before You HAVE to Wrap it Up!
How can we as Black Americans SIT and not motivate each other to truly save OURSELVES!? If the United Nations can teach the ABC Principle (Abstain, Be faithful, use Condoms) why is BET simply teaching condom usage?!?! When the fact of the matter is that BET's demographic are the very ones being affected most severly!?! WTH Ya'll!?!
Perhaps if abstinence were on young people’s minds, it would be thought of as an option. Right now, abstinence is excluded completely.
