| Yes, it would make it safer. It should be unionized and health care for sex-workers should be free. And I'm a feminist so take that ;-)

There is no real reason for prostitution to not be legal, other than the opposition of self proclaimed moralists who seem to lack many moral values in their own lives. They seem concerned that a brothel will attract their clean cut followers, who are more often sleeping around with little regard for the diseases they may be spreading, and children they may be creating, or disposing of through abortion.
Would I go to a brothel? Not likely, but if only to not put a poor woman through being with me. I'm disable and overweight. You never see or hear about any of the Brothels being particularly handicap accessible. Otherwise, I can see the claims of rape, especially date rape, going down to the levels found in Nevada. With the tourism influx in Nevada, it should have some of the highest rates of rape, just like Florida, but it doesn't. Something has to be said for having a place to go to burn off some excess sexual energy.

hello Afather :)
thanks to all for sharing your thoughtful opinions on the subject of legalized prostitution. and thank you specifically, Afather, for bringing up a very valued sector of the ranch clientele. I and many of my girlfriends at the Chicken Ranch are well experienced and take pride in our services geared towards the disabled and special needs clients. I have regulars with Parkinsons, MS, paralysis and other health conditions that require a special woman with a special heart and awareness of her sexuality to function healthfully sexually. The Chicken Ranch is MOST DEFINITELY friendly to special needs clients. In my personal experience, partying with the quote-unquote handicapped is always fun, memorable and a rare delight. | =) hey sizzling samantha! miss u so much, girl! im keeping busy and positive. lots of opinions but i dont know if the true message is getting thru. the comments here have been comforting. its crazy how even when we do things legally and morally (i mean, who judges others less and loves thy neighbor more than we do?) the perception is still in a negative light. i hope in SEASON TWO they will show the clips that are fun and ambitious in perspective. C'mon, people! Let Sundance know you appreciate our realness and want to hear the FULL STORY behind the characters portrayed on Pleasure For Sale. I promise you, my smile is quite engaging... see you next week, ms. samantha! kiss-kiss, chyna pi

You probably meant... If so, why? Spelling error in question... Anyway...
Isn't prostitution known as the oldest profession? Shouldn't that be a statement of its value and place in society? Frankly, I think of it similar to nursing... One of the most respected careers... Simply put, you are providing a service to relieve your patient of their pain; or at least their desires... Similar to visiting a doctors office or hospital; they all want to take care of the money part first... lol
If anything; we should make religious zealots illegal.

| Yes. Why should the government have any say with what a person does with there genitalia, that's the most severe form of a dictatorship in the world. If its not your vagina then who cares what you do with it. If you don't want to sell your services then don't, and if you do good for you! I'm not a straight man, and I could care less what people in my community, the gay community, do with their bodies. Either way, if you could tax pleasure, the government would gladly be willing to look the other way as prostitution as a real profession.

It seems to me that the real question being asked is "Should we, as a country, legislate morality?" Selling sex is a moral issue. Either you feel that the practice of prostitution is morally wrong or you don't, end of story. Can a democratic government legislate morality? Obviously the answer is yes, it does it all the time. Should a democratic government legislate morality? I would propose that not only should it legislate morality, it is one of the governments obligations. We as a people feel that certain things are right and certain things are wrong. Obviously we don't all agree on all the rights and all the wrongs so we take it to the government. (whom we elect, generally speaking)
The obvious problem is that history teaches us that the majority doesn't always get it right or at least what we now consider right. Slavery is just one example. It took individuals standing up for what they saw as a morally corrupt abomination in the face of a populous sentiment.
So how do we address the idea of the need for a majority run government to legislate morality for the masses when all we have is the sentiment of the populous to determine what is moral and what isn't. To be honest, I don't have a set answer. It is my belief that we just need to keep trying as hard as we can, following our hearts, while listening to each other and really hearing what the other side is saying.
It is my feeling that prostitution is morally wrong and it should continue to be illegal. However the demand for it creates the supply of it, therefore the real problem facing this society is deeper than just prostitution. I feel it is our unhealthy level of obsession with sex. Don't get me wrong. Sex is AWESOME. Frankly it is one of the greatest human experiences we can have. Yet if we as a society are so obsessed with sex that we have to buy it to avoid simply taking it by force as espoused by a previous responder, then how are we ever going to be able to focus on even more serious issues like saving this planet we live on, eradicating poverty in the wealthiest country ever known to man, children without healthcare. ect. Imagine if we took all the money we spent on prostitution, pornography, and ky jelly (ok never mind, I need to keep my KY) and we improved elementary education, health care for kids, green initiatives and such. What a better world it would be. Just imagine. Sorry for the long post.

| The other problem with legislating morality is what shoudl be illegal and what should not be? This is the problem in the issue of Gay rights. Should a person have the moral right to marry simply because they were born to be attracted to the same sex as opposed to the opposite sex? If they are, what about all the other sexual orientations believed by the American Psychological Association to have been established at birth? These orientations include attraction to children and the dead. Do we say one should be legal and the other not? The same would apply with prostitution. Should it be legal when regulated in brothel setting, or should street walkers also be legal? Any way you look at it, it’s a balancing act.

Certainly there are mimors walking the streets. However, making out that they are subject to greater chances of abuse at the hands of their clients is grossly misleading. In fact, we here more stories of these poor "baby girls" doing just these horrible things, and worse, to their clients!
Again, another good reason for for keeping brothels legal.
Im not saying there are not victims in prostitution. We all know that to be true. But lets not forget there are two sides to every story.
I personally am completely against the legalization of street walking types of prostitution. However, I dont believe that the ladies who choose to enter this as a career are any more susceptable to drug, smoking, or gambling addictions than the next woman.

At least I am not a liar; I tell everyone what my sexuality is. I have been more open than I ever thought possible of me. I have striped down with the truth until I was bare and naked before the public. One of my spiteful girlfriends said to me after viewing the film, “It must be nice not to even know you are being judged”. Well yes, I am intelligent enough to know when I am being judged.
I am just so obsessed with what my mother is not doing for me today that I forget to worry about the kitty litter of the Chicken Ranch. Then I realized that my own mother was part of that crowd too. She used to take her prostitute girlfriends in the next room and talk about how I had made her tits go to hell. She put me on the floor to look under doors, to wait in the next room every times her friends were there.
It is a danger to be born to a prostitute, absolutely beautiful; especially in the crib the child is very vulnerable to adult control.

You know, I respect that you feel prostitution is immoral, and you are entitled to your opinion.
BUT, telling people how they need to spend their own money is beyond ridiculous. You have no right to dictate what the spending habits of other people should be. So, none of us should buy porn, or spend money in brothels but KY is ok because you personally like that. Yeah, ok... Perhaps you should let me know what kind of foods you personally like so that I know what I'm allowed to spend my own hard earned money on.
This is not government money that is going to prostitution, this is the personal money of private citizens and they should be able to spend it on whatever they see fit within the confines of the law.
I personally think buying designer clothing is ridiculous. That doesn't mean I'm going to demand that people stop buying designer clothing and instead donate that money to the local elementary school. You have every right to disagree with how other people spend their money but you have NO RIGHT to attempt to pass laws to force people to spend their money the way you see fit.
Either you didn't really think about what you wrote or you're very ignorant about the money that goes into the brothels. We aren't taking a dime away from schools, and the government does not fund us.

I do not want to see young women drinking at blackjack tables with large sums of cash earned from prostitution.
Gaming is a very popular reason for staying in the life and addicted to prostitution.
Either gaming debts or non payment of taxes will be the number one reason they have to go back to work. Not paying taxes is usually more about drinking and smoking addictions which go along with the gaming addictions. Roseknows

| Rose, darling, please quit dissing on the industry that supported you for years. Prostitutes are just like the rest of the world, their are good ones and bad ones. I am really sick of you playing off like we are all hideous, horrible people who need to be protected from ourselves. Part of being a grown up is accepting responsibility for your actions, and since the min age to work in southern Nevada as a prostitute is 21, I think we can make our own desisions. Personally form 4 yrs of observation, the majority of the girls I met DIDN'T do drugs, have a horrible abusive childhood or a gambling problems.

I don't have a yes or no answer. I don't believe that we should legislate (sp?) morality and on the other hand, I am not a prospective client for brothels legal or otherwise.
I was just touched by Samanta's and CHYNA's kind words to Afather. Simply taking a few moments to respond to Afather's blurb expresses a sentiment that the world could use more of.
HEY ... A random act of HUMAN KINDNESS ... what a concept. Kinda made my day ... thanks Ladies.

Yes, prostitution should be legalized.
The main objections would be invalid if it were legalized.
1. There would be less criminal influence- no need for pimps.
2. There would be less violence against women- more out in the open, less opportunity for abusers.
3. There would be more health care and preventatives.
4. There would be less drug abuse.
5. There would be less societal stigma, and therefore less psychological problems.
But who knows, I am a liberal, and therefore full of crap.
