Affordable Prefab Green Homes Posted on Jan 13 2008 at 7:56pm by pntfarris
Building affordable green is what is needed for the general public!

I designed and built a 1600 sqft Green Eco Manufactured Home. My intent was to create an affordable green home option for the average family, seniors, mercy housing, city infill projects, etc, and to keep the price at less than $60 sqft! The concept home was built and the Open House was at American Home Sales this past Sat Jan 12. With 200+ in attendance, press, politicians and government reps, I would say the Open House was a great success! It made a significant impact on the publics perception of "green building!' I have been asked to be guest speaker at a few local events, and have also received requests for interviews! All very exciting! This past WED we were LIVE on Good Day Sacramento, and Sac channel 10 has committed to doing a Living Green segment on our new Eco Manufactured Homes!

One lady asked me, "If they help save the environment, are healthier to live in, and saves me money every month, why doesnt everyone live in one of these homes?"

My thoughts exactly! The answer is -because this is the first affordable green home for the average income family, seniors, mercy housing, city infill projects, and tribal placements! It is my intent for the general public to become aware they now have a "green option!"

Please come tour my new concept "Eco Home" 1450 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn CA! 530-885-4555
And if you have any suggestions on how I can better promote affordable green building, please contact us!

What do you need to roll this out? Make a wishlist, maybe I can help, or round up helpers. I have contacts in real estate development here in LA, not that I can just throw a switch, but if you put something in writing I can get it going around. I have cousins building an all green shopping mall in Chicago, 3/4 done. Also somebody I might (emphasis might) be able to interest in doing a foundation. Are you in touch with Habitat for Humanity? FEMA?.

        Exciting discussion group.

You'll find another option at www.kezarhomes.com for sustainble partially prefabricated homes. There are models to fit different budgets.
