    Has anyone thought about how much PVC plastic is used/wasted in gift cards? Why do they have to be made of toxic indestructable plastic when they are usually only used one time and then go to the landfill. Along the same lines, what about hotel keycards? Are there any eco friendly alternatives?

      TPO is an alternate used in the Auto industry. Remember in the 70s when your dashboard in your cars cracked in the sun? The were PVC then the auto industry switched to TPO, it is also used in alot of car body parts (Fenders, etc) There should be a manufacturer somewhere that wants to make an environmentally friendly alternative out of TPO or maybe the new plastic from Corn...

      there must be a biodegradable alternative or a solid one (like bamboo) that can be encoded.
