    Hi All,

I am a newcomer to this discussion board and hope that someone will respond to my questions. I have recently acquired 7 acres of land in Tunisia (North Africa). I live in the United States (Jersey City) and would like to contribute to raising awareness around the importance of organic farming, permaculture and green architecture in my home country (Tunisia).

I have this dream that I can play a part in improving the environment in my country.I have been reading, watching the green documentaries and absorbing a lot of literature about these two topics and came to the conclusion that I could either contribute little by little or chose to solicit the help of experts to achieve the goals that I envision i.e. involve international researchers in a pilot project to create the first sustainable and self-sufficient farm in Tunisia.

    The objectives would be:
    - To create an environment that builds upon the Arab Architecture and incorporates modern ecological technology. This environment/ecosystem would be geared to the well being of fauna and flora while serving as the dwelling of potentially 2 families.
    - To leverage the success of this pilot in order to promote organic farming in the region and in Tunisia.
-To prompt the Tunisian public sector to create incentives for renewable energies in Tunisia.
    - To prompt the Ministry of Education to create a Tunisian Green Architecture Program as well as Green Trade Training/Certification curriculum for general contractors and other trades.
    - To prompt the Ministry of the Environment to create a Center of Green Excellence to allow Tunisian Researchers and Engineers to focus on specific public and private sector industries (plastic, packaging and other industries) to help diminish their carbon footprint.

Can anyone suggest whether this is something that has been done before? I am particularly interested in the cross-cultural knowledge exchange component of this pilot i.e. having international researchers work alongside Tunisian locals to design and implement the pilot.

I am also interested in learning how to pitch the idea to potential sponsors. Can anyone provide advise on what the process is to pitch an idea to researchers and sponsors for this type of pilot idea?

Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.

    Rim
