As a long time Seattle residence I have to tell you that one hour infomercial for Howard Shultz is a little out of control!? This is a corporate Giant who has put thousands of small businesses under.. two starbucks on every corner. Maybe for the next Iconoclasts we can have a warm and fuzzy Dick Chaney and Rupert Murdoch hour? In Seattle Howard is also known as the driving force behind the possible exit of our Seattle Supersonics, so here in Seattle it's not all rosy thoughts when it comes to Howard.

    P.S. I Love Norman Lear!

Interesting perspective. I used to own an independent restaurant in Denver surrounded by chains. You can either complain about big corporations or you can offer an alternative to their one size fits all. I survived and prospered on doing just that.
Personally, I look for alternatives to Starbucks and most of the time, I'm disappointed on how little the small providers do to encourage my return. Every non-Starbucks should be offering free WiFi for example, something that costs them nothing. Use only shade grown coffee. Donating to their local schools. Lots of things that can make them stand out. But they should stop complaining. And at least Starbucks is one of the better companies in regards to corporate relations with their employees. At least they're not Walmart.

blame the victim. hmmm. interesting perspective.

and i guess all the starbucks employees should be slapping themselves on the back, happy that they don't work for walmart.

the "it could be much worse" mantra is old and tired. it's time to kick it to the curb.

not only was starbucks NOT the first company to serve coffee, but they worked very hard to put everyone else who did out of business (can you say M-I-C-R-O-S-O-F-T?)

small business is not to blame for the lack of competition in the marketplace.

      amen brother!!!!

you don't have to be in seattle to feel the affects of this corporate giant. after many good shows i can't believe that sundance is scraping the bottom of the barrel for interesting guests for this show. it's an absolute disgrace.

sundance should be ashamed of themselves.

there are great talents and smart folks who contribute to our well being and future who are going unnoticed. seek them out!

it is difficult to see beyonds one world.
this is perhaps the biggest fallacy of the marketeers.
taking more than they are worth.
such realities bring about revolutions and no matter the
case of excess greed it will be threat as the past histories.
